I've been badly let down by a re-chromer that was recommended to me, so now I'm hoping that someone on the forum can suggest a reliable business.
Cheers Mike

It may be a bit far for you but we have always used Derby Plating with very good results: http://www.derbyplating.co.uk/

I have had bad experiences with all the London platers, including the London Plating Company. The only exception was a Wimbledon company that are now closed down.
The bumpers for my B20 were refused by the London Plating Co as being too thin and beyond repair - and they would only try to do them without any guarantee of success for a huge fee. I took them to Derby Plating who did a great job without question and charged about half the London quote. This was twenty years ago - hopefully Richard's report indicates that the London company have learnt some lessons. Personally, I would take a trip to Derby!

I exhausted all the recommended London platers, then those further afield (Sheffield, Colchester) with dreadful results and some irrecoverable damage, before eventually discovering Douglas Plating. ( http://www.douglas-plating.co.uk/) Their work so far has been first class and their price very reasonable. John

Some asked what was wrong with the work. These pictures hopefully give you some idea.
To be fair, I will not mention the chromer as the parts have been returned and I'm hoping that they will improve upon the blistered finish.

Mike, did they resolve the issue with the poorly finished items in your post above?
Anyone any other recommendations, have a number of guys who need sets of wheel bolts re-chromed?

I would reinforce John Cundy's comment 3 years ago - Derby Plating, Abbey Street (googleable) have done good work for me on Aurelia, Flavia (especially) and Augusta.

I've had prompt replies from the 3 alternatives suggested, ranging from 60% to 260% more than the current guy we use

But the key here is to pay to have it done just the once...
