My Aprilia is an early car, 1937, but has steel/chrome bumpers (see attached photos).  The car came from Portugal, and the bumpers are quite like the (Ford) items that Alperton used to fit to UK cars.  I suppose there's a chance that they were on the car from new...

So I've been looking around for what I think are the correct ones - Aluminium with rubber strips - and have found a pair for sale in Italy.

Question for you all: are these correct for an S1 1350 car?

Should I get Ally bumpers or stick with what I've got?

Personally, I would stick with them, it is likely that they are original to the car.   I very much doubt it is worth paying Italian prices for alloy ones.

i maybe wrong as i'm no expert but were'nt the alloy type just for the italian market?, steel bumpers are far more practical as they dont dent or mark as easily, bumpers on your car look really nice and certainly not out of place, personally if i had those i'd stick with them , james

Those alloy bumpers for sale in Italy are second series ones, you can easily get new rubbers for them. The first series ones are thinner and more shaped.

our car was sold new in belgium with alloy bumpers so apparently not.Although I prefer the look of them to the steel versions I wouldn't bother replacing steel ones if they are original.The alloy ones are getting quite fragile these days but on the other hand are probably a lot lighter which is in keeping with the spirit of the other fitments of the car.

Thanks, I thought that might be the case, so it's good to have confirmation.

On balance, I think I'll stick with the ones on the car.
