Anyone got an S3 Appia that can be used in a photoshoot on the 23rd of this month in Bucks?  A chance to meet a real rallying legend into the bargain, and petrol paid.  All leads gratefully received...

Chris,

Once again I look back in my copy of the LMC’s Register of Members and their Cars and see on pages 126 and 127 that there were 31 Appia Series 3s listed together with names of their owners. These names can then be tracked into the main register to get their contact details.  Unfortunately, the last issue of this invaluable register was in 2000.

I guess your task would be easier if we all had an up to date register.

I’ll scan the relevant pages and email them to you if you wish.

One car and owner that might interest you is 411 FXB, listed as owned by Mr and Mrs C R Long, with LMC membership number 204.

Im sure Don Cross and the Appia Consortium can help 01386870385. And who is the secret famous rallyist? Why not tell us?

I am sworn to secrecy by my client...  And a call to Don may be in order.  Is the Long's car the pale cream S3 I remember seeing on a number of occasions?

Hi Chris,

No, our car is Lancia Blue... Unfortunately it is not on the road at present as I am just about to fit a rebuilt engine. It would have been done by now but the project was held up for a couple of years for family reasons.

By the way, the first port of call for all things Appia is Don Cross as already mentioned.

I think it is Brian's car I know and have seen.  I'll try him.
