The Flavia consortium website carries the following advice for early Flavia's due to a weakness in the the Oil filter design...
"It is good practice to allow the starter motor to spin the engine for a good 5 seconds before applying choke at a cold start, and resisting the temptation to kick the accelerator to "catch" the engine too soon at a hot start."

I always do this (although my Flavia is a willing starter and doesn't need too much coaxing before it catches), but does anyone know if the advice is still relevant on the 1800cc engines or does it really only apply to the earliest 1500 Flavias?

Only just got here so sorry if its to late.

I have the same problem with my 1800 (its the early type with alloy oil filler cap). I Just turn it over till the oil light goes out then give it a few squrts of gas.
