Three of us ventured over (or rather under) the Channel last Thursday evening to Paris to spend Friday at Retromobile, we spent an interesting day looking around the exhibition hall which is not on the scale of the NEC show, but the quality and variety is equal to the UK event. Some interesting exhibits including a D25 on loan from the Lancia museum on the Lancia Club France, thanks to Daniel Pottier for the most welcome glass of beer after a long day looking at the exhibits. Amongst other exhibits on various other stands were a Gamma, Y10, Flavia, Flaminia, Stratos and B52. In the large Bonham's auction area were a Fulvia Sport, Flaminia and had been an Appia since had been removed from the area, along with a whole host of mouth-watering machinery, including the recently rescued Bugatti from a Swiss lake which was sold for a few hundred thousand Euros.

That Bugatti had a very interesting past and the story of it's survival is excellent. I suspect it will have an interesting future as well. You would imagine all motoring enthusiasts would be thrilled by it, however I suspect there is one restorer who wished it had been forever hidden. Turns out a Japanese Bugatti collector was sold a "restored" car with the same chassis number not all that long ago..................opps

So is it worth asking the Lancia Museum for the loan of an interesting car for our stand at the NEC? If you don't ask......

D25 ................AWESOME , has to go down as probably one of the most stunning looking lancias of all time, i love all the D series cars but my favourite has to be the D20, hell of an era for lancia

I believe it cost the LMC an arm and both legs to bring the rally cars over for the AGM held at Daventry about 3 years ago. Brian 8227

Probably D24 rather than D25, but the following picture is of one that lived in the UK in the 1990s.
This was taken at the LMC Castle Combe track-day in September 1993. It’s the D24R owned by Anthony Maclean who is in the centre of the group of three – on the right is Justin Hildreth trying not to look too impressed. Note the silly tin-can stuffed over one of the exhausts to try and keep the noise level down. Note also the car in front, which is Mr Maclean’s lightweight B20 that also graced the day.
Castle Combe track-days were quite something then!

It was the lightweight 'low line' bodied replica B20 which caught my eye that day. It was the first and only time I saw it and I am afraid to say I never heard it running that day as I was trying to get laps in on the track. It was light brown and supercharged which made for an impressive engine bay. Was it 2.0l or 2.5l Colin? I cant remember but it left me with a lasting desire to acquire one. I have seen a couple for sale over the years since - is there one still for sale in Mexico currently? - but to me they have been rather expensive for replicas. Such a shame the factory destroyed them all at the en of their competition career.
