I'm currently stripping the paint on my Fulvia down to the bare metal. Obviously I need to protect it with some primer and would be keen to hear what is advised. Is normal primer sufficient bearing in mind that i may not be able to give it a top coat for some time (is it right that standard primer is porous?).
I've been using Eastwood rust encapsulator on the underside of my Beta - anyone got any experience of this? would this be suitable for general body i.e. how suitable is it as a base coat?

You want to use a acid etching primer, I used U-Pol Acid 8. For doing a whole car you are best off with a proper gun and compressor. Conventional primer is indeed porous, my experience of the Eastwood encapsulator is that it is fine for underbody and behind panel applications but does not take top coats too succesfully.
