Author Topic: How to unlock the fuel filler cap when you don't have the right key.....  (Read 3140 times)

Went to drain the fuel tank this afternoon and actually had the foresight to try getting the fuel cap open first. Turns out, I don't have a key for it..........

Any suggestions as to the best way to get it open - tinopeners and brute force not being the number one preferred option.

Hi Lindsay,
I'm not that up on 2000's but it's worth checking if the fuel filler neck can be undone at the tank as it can be on Fulvia, if it is, then that way at least you should be able to drain the tank & work on the cap & filler pipe on the workbench.

Hi Brian. Thanks for that. Just twigged the reason I don't have a key for the lock is that the 2 I do have are both for ignition - hence no key to do the doors either. Not exactly handy!
