Glad you like the cover! After seeing the block lettering cover on the July issue I simply could not keep shtum and not say anything to the editor - mainly because it simply did not represent the marque or the cars we drive in anyway. Cluncky bold typography is not not what 'Lancia' and its products stand for - far from it. The editor asked me to 'have a go' being a graphic designer I couldn't say no. Would like to have a chance at looking at other pages etc, but wanted to know what the general feedback was in regards to the new cover first. With regards the club logo,  ...ask the editor! Wink

Presumably for design reasons - to make the cover less cluttered, perhaps?

Me too - I really like the cover this month. Usually I go for the "corporate look" with logo's etc, but when the cover looks as good as this month's does, then the logo is surplus to requirements in my opinion. Let's stick with this one then Smiley

Sorry but I don't agree, I liked the July Cover,  although the August cover looks good it's a bit too modernistic for my liking,  very much in the vein of the AutoItalia look. As for the Logo, it is part of who we are, so why do away with it?
That Said, I'd prefer to have a pure Lancia Logo rather than the one the club was forced to come up with by Fiat.

Here's another way, the front cover of the American Lancia Club's quarterly magazine, 'LANCIANA', this works for me, simple, classy, in full colour (other than Black & White Grin) & bearing in mind they have nothing like the membership we have, so work to a tighter budget.

Brian,

As I recall it, it wasn’t a case of the current logo being one “the club was forced to come up with by Fiat”. I think Fiat objected to our old logo and the LMC chose the design that has been in use for the past few years – a design that some have referred to as “Mr Blobby”. With Fiat Lancia having now re-jigged its own logo, perhaps we can go back to our old one, which was I think preferred by many members.

Incidentally, I think the current issue of Viva Lancia is one of the best ever – with good articles across a wide range from Theta via Lambda, Aurelia, LC2 (fantastic pictures!) to Delta. I also notice on page 6 - “AGM:  Full report, list of concours winners, trophy awards next issue”. Hopefully this will also include an account of the AGM itself, which included important decisions on the Ted Bates Legacy and the agreement to go for a book.

Hi Colin,

Not sure I can see a great difference between you & me on the Logo, certainly 'Mr Blobby' is not my favourite, as it always looks unbalanced to my mind which is why I hang onto my old club sticker on "Fay".

As for the current 'Viva Lancia' I wasn't commenting on the content, only the graphics of the cover, I like the bolder type of the headers inside as it easier to read.
As for content I didn't think we had a problem Huh?. to sum up I don't think new is better, just different.
I just hope VL never goes down the road of using contrasting print on colour, obviously a feature thought up by a bright young thing with 20/20 vision, rather than someone with elderly eyes and spectacles Cry
