Way back in 1995 a member, Barry Parsons, wrote an open letter in 'Viva Lancia' to all Dedra owners, to feel out the reaction to setting up a Dedra Consortium, in fact what Barry meant, as someone more interested in semantics than we were pointed out; was a register.  It was never intended at the time to be involved in supplying parts for Dedra, with the model only being 5 years old there wasn't a parts problem. In retrospect perhaps Barry was right.

This was one year on from Lancia pulling out of the RHD Market so from this point one there would be a finite amount of parts peculiar to RHD available, & in fact for the past few years since joining with the Thema Consortium to become TDC (Thema Dedra Consortium), the Consortium has become mainly a source of spares and information rather than having a strong social side as was the case in the beginning.
Such as Dedra's in Derbyshire organised by Mike Costigan, Dedra's on the Severn, when courtesy of David Muirhead who arranged the trip, we had tea on the Severn Valley Railway while relaxing on the train between Bridgenorth & Bewdley http://www.svr.co.uk/.
Just two of the many social trips that were organised by volunteer members.
I offered to help Barry set up the Consortium as I thought the Consortium was a good idea, at the time we owned a 2.0iese, the first of the five Dedra's we owned over the next 12 years.

In 1996 we held the Inaugural meeting near Oxford with 15 owners attending with their Dedras who showed a lot of interest, as well as many letters of support from those who were interested in a Consortium, but were unable to attend.

Here are I photos I took on the day, unfortunately time hasn't been kind to the colour even though the photos have always been stored in an album.

Can anyone who was there identify their car? can a present owner identify their car? Does any original owner still own that car?

My Dedra is the white 2.0iese H851 WMR.
David Muirhead owned the White Turbo J603 DGN, up until 2 years ago David still owned his Dedra but it was off the road for work and I'm not sure if it made it back onto the road.
G105 XTC a 1.8Ie ,belonged to Simon Davis who sold it in 1997 & in it's place personally imported new, the first Delta HPE HF Turbo from Italy, which he still owns.
88 Roy belonged to Roy Winrow, who with myself ran the Consortium for a number of years, when he & I picked up the banner after Barry suddenly disappeared of off the scene never to be seen again after the first meeting.
A20 HF belonged to Alan Cooper, until last year this personal
numberplate adorned Alan's 1999 Delta HPE HF Turbo.
I know John White was there but can't recall the details or registration number of his Dedra.

Just thought I would let you guys know that I am about to purchase a Dedra to keep my Beta Coupe company. Hopefully will get it sometime this week. I have owned two others in the past and am looking forward to having another. Grin

Hi Harvey, yes, your thoughts are correct! A little tlc here and there and she should be back to her former glory! M.o.t tomorrow and then gracing my drive I hope! It will be great to have a Dedra as my daily driver.
Peugeot 405 TD anyone??

Give it a good long blast in third gear just before you take it in as that usually saves problems with the exhaust emissons,  this is quite often a problematical area with old Dedra's.

G105 XTC I understand has been scraped. I met the person at the AGM in Daventry 2007 who bought it from me, he kept it for a few years before selling it to someone in his village and then buying it back again and running it for a couple of years before the dreaded tin worm was too far advanced.

Red Dedra Turbo in the photos looks like one owned by Will How, i think?

Regards

Well, sad news, the Dedra failed!! Sad but good news... only emissions and a damaged wheel. I read your message too late Brian but thanks anyway. I hear that Harvey has a spare that can be used, and the said blast in third should clear the emissions problem, so re booked for Friday! A weekend of valeting weather permitting...I hope Grin

I sold it with 4 new(ish) wheels and a good spare, so I wonder what's happened to need a new wheel.
The additional wheels that came with the car are a Thema wheel and an Alfa space-saver; I was told they're suitable but have never tried them.

Hi Harvey, yes I was wondering that too! I can only assume that he has hit a pot hole or kerb and damaged it in some way. It must be on the inside edge as there are no obvious signs from the roadside and the car drove straight and true right up to the nineties on the test drive, with no wheel wobble.
I am looking forward to getting the car back into the sort of condition you had it in!

Well, the Dedra is now gracing the drive alongside my Beta Coupe. The M.O.T is still not passed however!!
It seems that it is just above the required emission level. There are are a couple of weeks left on the current M.O.T so hopefully a solution can be found soon Huh?
On the plus side, what a lovely car to drive, very smooth and when the turbo kicks in it feels a lot more than 165bhp! I will upload some photos soon, just need to get the grime off, I dont think the car has had a proper clean for at least a year.
I would also like to express my thanks to Harvey for providing a replacement wheel for the test Grin.
