Was a well know car looks as if the Samson engine has been replaced with an Aprilia one.

That's Augusta front suspension, isn't it? I have pictures of a 1936 Augusta Cabriolet with that style top end to the engine so could it all be late Augusta running gear?

The special was built on a Augusta platform chassis, I suspect that the photo you have is also an Aprilia engine.

I suppose fitting an Aprilia engine may have been a popular upgrade if your original engine was worn out.
