This image is from the website of Registro Aprilia; it shows a bootlid seal.  How is it supposed to installed? I'm baffled.

John.

With glue I think and to the inside of the lid?     Mine, however, is slotted to fit over the edge of the boot opening.

Again, this was discussed in another topic a few days ago on this forum, see the Registro Aprilia page:
https://www.registroaprilia.it/guarnizioni-per-il-baule-aprilia/

You need 2 different seals. They seal one against the other.

This is stated in the Italian text, on the Registro page, translated here:

TRUNK LID GASKETS

There are two authentic gaskets for the Aprilia boot lid, the triangular one is to be glued to the trunk lid, the other is to be fixed to the bodywork.

These are their drawings and these are their measurements:

1) from the REINA catalogue

2) from the SAFRA catalogue

We believe that the REINA type are better

If the ones on sale do not correspond to these models, the gasket on the body cannot be fitted and does not seal.

This is most helpful - the first definitive answer to this mystery I have seen. But when I google "REINA", I find Reina household radiators and the Hyundai Reina. Do you have the web address for the correct REINA?

These are period catalogs, and suppliers. I doubt they are still active today. But the Aprilia Club website and the picture helps with the dimensions of the seals.

I assume that the supplier today should be Cicognani, they reproduce old seals for Lancia models. However, Cicognani sometimes take some liberties with shapes and materials.
Best to send him the details from the Aprilia website, and to check on arrival.

Otherwise one could ask also Elvezio: https://www.elvezio.com/

Or find an Italian Aprilia owner willing to help.

This is indeed helpful to know.  I shall try Elvezio and Cicognani.
Thanks!

I have looked for these seals and inquired of a number of rubber extrusion suppliers, but without success. However, I have had a quote to make 60 metres of the 'P' section, at a cost of under £ 15 per metre, which seems reasonable, given that each car would need under 3 metres. The foam piece is much more difficult. All those I have contacted either cannot supply or make it at all, or require a run of 1,000 metres, for which I cannot imagine there would be demand. However, one company has on the shelf an adhesive-backed strip of foam that measures 15mm X 20mm, which might do, and it's very cheap - less than £ 10, so worth a try, I would have thought. DO LET ME KNOW IF YOU WOULD BE INTERESTED, IN WHICH CASE I WILL PLACE AN ORDER, TO BE DELIVERED IN UNDER TWO MONTHS. If you prefer to correspond directly with me, I am Peter Blenk (peterblenk@gmail.com) 0r 07711-022-347

Please count me in for the P section type and the adhesive foam. Thanks.
