Slow but rough

« on: 11 August, 2022, 10:23:08 AM »

Hi all
We have a Consortium member with engine issues. His S1 block has been bored out to 68.8 but there is still damage showing in the bores requiring a further rebore. So are 69mm pistons available and can the block be bored out to 69mm? The consortium has no S1 blocks or spare engines at present. The alternative would be to fit a S2/3 engine and gearbox but the owner does not want to go down that route yet.
So a big shout for advice and if possible some S1 engine bits.

I really should know, but what are the differences (visual or otherwise) between S1 and S2/3 blocks - how do you tell them apart ?

I have 2 spare blocks but not sure which series they are - ie I may be able to help

Good point...I am not sure either...I know both types don't half hurt when you stub your toe on one.

The S1 block has extra water passages The picture shows a S1 block with it's head gasket compared to a S2/3 head gasket.
