I am just trying to work out how to remove my steering wheel for a refurb. I assume I have to remove the horn/flasher assembly first. Looking at TAV46A, I am non the wiser 🤔. There is a retainer (item3), does this hold the horn assembly onto the wheel?

Thanks

Charles

Try unscrewing the horn flasher chrome ring.

Thanks Tim…..I tried that, but didn’t seem to be getting anywhere? It turns but doesn’t seem to be coming undone……will revisit!

No luck. Does the chrome ring screw directly onto the centre of the steering wheel itself? If this is the case, I can’t see why it doesn’t unscrew when rotated.

Success!

After much head scratching, I noticed that in the parts book the retaining ring (item 3) has two part numbers. One is for 818.130 and one for other later series 1. This car is the very early (1965) 818.130 with 1216cc engine.

The retainer is held in place by a spring/circlip, rather than by a thread, so by carefully prising the retainer it will finally pop out.

Hope this is useful for other 1216 owners.

Lancia parts books are always a good reference. Sounds like the Flavia system. Did it have an 815 partnumber? Stories of Flavia horn buttons flying out while driving along must have forced a design change…..

Looking at the parts book, both styles for the Fulvia originate from the Flavia….815.130 and 815.330.

Now installed….
