Good evening all. I have developed a very loud knocking, under power and rotational from the front end. It dissipates when not in gear. Well the flavia developed the knocking! Not me. I have cleared out the 'oil' from the cv joints, as I think this is the old grease broken down, and re packed with moly grease. It disappeared for a few miles, but came back with avengence. Does any one have inner and outer cv joints? I would like to change them all and remove worn cv joints from my list! Is there a test to see, or measure the amount of acceptable wear? I may have to move on to the differential as my next move.

As an extra comment, does anyone know if these are interchangeable with any other models, or if there any suppliers in the UK. Omicron are looking, but not much joy! Thank you again.

I have these three inners, plus one outer.
I think they are Fulvia s1 and maybe the same as Flavia.
They are from my spares for sale forum post @ £60 each plus post and packing. Or collect Maidstone or Wadhurst.

They are relatively easy to strip and rebuild. You can get replacement balls from a good bearing shop  (18mm dia from  memory but you need to check). It may be that the cage have broken in which case you are looking at a good second hand unit. These occasionally turn up on ebay. I doubt the inner joint is the problem and indeed compared to modern cars these and the outer joints are totally over engineered. Do some more investigation to narrow it down.

In my experience a failing CV joint usually clicks when the steering is on full lock.

Excellent. Thank you so much for your help. I will get both fully stripped down and check out the dimensions. new bearings would be an excellent outcome. Fingers crossed. The Fulvia spares I dont know enough to make the shout, but the chap at Omnicon says there is no other model inter changeable and again i dont know Undecided Undecided
