I'm looking for an original complete Lancia seat base frame and slider mechanism in working or repairable condition for a 1949 Aprilia berlina.  A previous owner replaced the original mechanism with something from a 60s/70s car, and the seat is almost two inches too high.

Hi John,

See below a picture of the spare seat frame i have...it has the slider rails attached and the ratchet/release handle.  Note it is the version that does not recline, its got a fixed back.  I think i have a seat cushion to fit it too.
I am near Woking.  Am sure you could easily make the rails up out of steel that are fixed to the floor to match the rails on this seat.

cheers
David.

Dear David,
The two front seat bases in my Aprilia have rounded corners at the forward end.  Your seat has one rounded corner and one ninety degree corner.  I think that I may have early seats in my car (well, one early front passenger seat and one bodged driver's seat).  I'll have to investigate further.
Regards,
John.

David.

The top frame in David's pictures is very similar to my Cabrio seat base, otherwise I have only seen the lower frame type

David's second image of a front passenger seat base appears to be exactly the same as in my car, but mine is bolted directly to the floor and there is no evidence on any sliding mechanism.

I have attached a few images.  The picture of the interior parts (Tav. 64, parts catalogue) seems to suggest that items 7, 8 and 13 are parts of the front seat base frames/slider mechanisms.  Item 7 is a single part number 238-98316 up to chassis number 438/12350, and is replaced by two different part numbers, one left side and one right side,  250-98320 and 250-98316 respectively.

Item 8 (part 238-98317) is listed as being used twice in the car, and item 13 (the big lever at the seat base) is listed as different parts numbers for left and right sides, before and after chassis numbers 438-12350 --- four different part numbers in total.

Items 7 (one off), 8 (two off) and 13 (two off) are absent from my car.

I would really appreciate any information that would clarify what I should have in my car.
