Hi Simon,
I'm interested to see how you get the 'used' look that you referred to on page 1.

Good luck with the rest of the painting - I'm looking forward to seeing the camioncino with the covers off 😊

Thanks Tim, and as may not be a surprise to many of you, we are "reviewing" the paint-situation !

What Dog has done is brilliant and has the "feel" that I'm after, but Dog isn't happy about the new/old blend ..... so we will have another look tomorrow. We may possibly look again at painting the rest of the body (without removing dents etc)- but with the work on the Cabrio, it's going to get tight for Lyon

Stay tuned !!

Busy day today - I have actually driven (ie more than 100 feet !) my Cabrio, a 38 Aprilia saloon, B20, Appia furgoncino ,Renault 4 rodeo , Renault 4 Sinpar , Ypsilon and Land Rover .... 426 year's worth of cars !!!

Plus pushed quite a few more as well

A photo of the camioncino to show the differences between new and old - Dog is REALLY keen to do the rest of the car, so that is probably what we will do, but it needs to be finished by Friday next .......

At the same time the cabrio has gone over to the workshop to have the wings painted and fitted along the final details getting done - includes the aluminium trim , lights, bumpers etc - so it's all hands on deck for the next 3 weeks

Nice little detail on the steering wheel of the Ardea

Another nice little detail on both Ardeas I have owned, and which you may not have spotted, is a facility for locking the horn on by rotating the button.

Also, only the Italians would have a St Christopher medallion exhorting you to "drive safely when going fast"! (Assuming I've got the gist of the text.)

Things hotting up here - couple of photos to explain

Ardea has been stripped and will be prep'ed and primed today and the Cabrio has had the front wings trial fitted ready for the trim fitting

Simon,
Could this be a case of The Dog wagging the tail for once Huh? 🐶

There is some amount of work going on over there!

Can't wait to see the outcome - the good people of Lyon are in for a treat.

What are you doing about the beading between the wings and the body on the Cabrio Simon? Did you have some made or find another solution? Or am I confused about some missing beading on another of your cars?

A quick visit to the workshop this morning.....

The Ardea is in the booth for epoxy primer and undercoat - topcoat expected Monday

To answer you question Chris, the bead that I had made a couple of years ago is being fitted. One rear arch has been done and Papa F is doing the RH wing trim today. The trim is slow and complex to fit and at times needs at least 2 people especially on the wing/running boards because they are so long and wobbly

The rubber mats arrived this morning so it is still flat out !

Still at it ....

Ardea top coat today, it has a matting agent in it so that it will not be shiny and there are plenty of bumps and dents to add to the character. I will collect her on Wednesday morning to start reassembly

The trim on the wings is progressing - one side nearly finished

There are a couple of bits of interior trim to finish as well, so I made a template for the door this afternoon. Double sided tape, plastic sheet and felt tipped pen, then you stick the plastic to the plywood before cutting it out - tomorrow's job (amongst others)

A bit more today:

Camioncino is having a few final bits done before she comes back tomorrow. The inner wheel arches are being undersealed (spray PU then "Shutz" type spray), the rear wheel arches having the trim fitted before fitting the rear wings. The front wings and running boards will follow shortly

The RHS of the Cabrio has been trial fitted and looks great - so start on the LHS tomorrow. This next side should be a lot quicker. Paint is anticipated for next Monday

I have a day job in amongst all of this .......

PS, it is quite interesting doing the 2 projects alongside each other because they have such different objectives. The Camioncino is going to be a working vehicle that get scratched and dented , whereas the Cabrio will be a "high days and holidays" car and the aim is for it to be "perfect"  (What is perfect , can it be achieved ? - Discuss !!!)

Thanks Frank - it means that in that case I'll never be happy !

The Ardea came back here today, so I can start fettling tomorrow morning.

This afternoon I filled the sump with fresh oil (had been emptying whilst on her side) and she started very easily, couple of small petrol leaks that were quickly sorted but the engine needs to be quite warm before she settles down and will rev and pull - I will strip and clean the carb to see if this improved things - any other suggestions Huh?

I had to take the front wheels off the Aprilia before the Ardea would fit underneath !
