I have one of these and I use it for my Lambda wheels only mine is on a plinth so I do not have to bend down so much.

David , I presume that you like it then !

We went to Marseille for a couple of days so not done anything over the weekend, but the bumper and wings were waiting for me when we got back so I fitted them this afternoon.

Dog described the bumper inserts as "ingots" and he's not wrong - they are very solid pieces of aluminium

Wings went on quite easily, I supported them on the "gearbox lift" whilst I bolted them on. I expect that the running boards will be more difficult - but we are getting there

Marseille was fabulous, great food, ambience and scenery and we even got to have a swim in the sea !!

Thanks Tim, I am very pleased with it and it was the correct decision to paint the whole car !

Anyway, one more ready for the show ..... just one to go !

Camioncino looks brilliant Simon, clean and tidy but still showing plenty of patina!  Well done to you and the "team". Bonne chance at Lyon.

Thanks John, I am going to take everyone from the workshop to Lyon on the Sunday - we'll fill the Land Rover and "go on tour"

The Cabrio wings were painted today - the blurred photo is Dog applying the lacquer to the base coat. Interesting (Huh?) detail is that we started the Cabrio in water-based paint + lacquer, but as Dog has grown into his workshop and has more continuity of supply, he has moved to solvent paints. Lots of reasons for this but he is fundamentally getting better out-of-the-gun results with the solvent paints. Less flatting and polishing to get the final result, plus they are quicker

If anyone one remembers the "Everyday Appia" paint job you will see what we mean .....

But because the body was done in water-based, we have done the wings the same way. Hopefully they will be refitted tomorrow and I can have the car back on Friday

Cars are due to be collected 10am next Wednesday !!

Tim - indeed !

Couple of photos of the paint straight out of the gun - 3 coats of lacquer give a lovely shine

I will hopefully collect the Cabrio in the morning but in the meantime I have done a couple of last things on the camioncino. I thought that it would be good to have a barrel on the back so I have made up a support with cargo loops and tied the barrel on.

The other photo shows the original boards cleaned up and given a coat of lacquer before screwing in place

Lastly I cleaned up the petrol tank for the S1 Appia that we have been working on - a couple of hands-full of stones and 30 minutes turning on the cement mixer (at different angles), then blown out and rinsed with diesel - we'll still fit a filter

Going through the glovebox I found this lovely badge buried at the back under some fuses and other bits and bobs - looks like it was attached to the steering wheel Huh?

I love things like that Simon. Our B21S still has road tax (?) stickers from the early 1950s attached to the rear of the rear view mirror.
And our 1st srs B20 has a wired Douane metal badge under the steering column.

Getting towards the end now - the Cabrio is back here and I have moved the camioncino over to the winery to be with the furgoncino, plus the B20 has gone back to Dog's workshop

A few things still for me to do on the Cabrio, but nice photo of the boys who have been working on the car

Brilliant - what a fleet!!
And although it might not quite feel like it now, that additional external pressure of the show accelerated your progress enormously.
You must all be very pleased.

Getting close .....

Cabrio nearly finished, I fitted the handbrake so at least I can stop - I am resisting filling the brakes with fluid in case they leak and cause an issue that I don't have time to fix. New plug leads made up, petrol tank fitted and filled up, bumpers fitted, passenger door interior fitted, headlights made up, repainted the floorpan and under the wings etc etc etc

But she drives and stops (ish)

Last few details tomorrow. I don't have the trafficators (autocorrect tries to change to "fornicators" !!!) and they are a slightly odd size, so I have some nice aluminium frames and will create blanks. Plus I will see if I can find a nice strip for the running boards, fit the rear lights that have been painted today then a good clean and polish

So Cinders may also be going to the ball
