Spent a frustrating day attempting to post details of a host of Fulvia spares available to offer; but repeatedly find the notorious '403 errors' block (which is reported on elsewhere here, and appears the bane of this site) reliably prevents every attempt at posting any useful details of them - especially not photos - on its 'items for sale' page.

Advice I've had is to 'work-around' them, but there is 'no work-around' and I find life is just too short (so eBay here we come) while a compare & contrast exercise with the Alfa Romeo Owners Club version might be at least instructive.

I do appreciate that site moderators are volunteers who are doing it out of the goodness of their heart & in their own time, too, but a website is the lifeblood of a nationwide motor club. One that doesn't work means people soon get turned off..…

Michael

I too suffer from this 403 issue. It is not an easy one to resolve so nothing forum admin can do as far as I know.

The option to change to another forum technology has the very great disadvantage that years of club input (mostly technical) will be archived and not accessible. Not something anyone wants.

I'm lucky insofar that this happens very rarely to me. Wasn't one suggestion to try a different browser?

I use a MG forum which works on a very different platform. I can't say that it is any more functional and as Tim says, the knowledge stored on this forum is invaluable.

Agree with all of the above, gents; but over the years have not only contributed articles to the club magazine myself, I've also submitted running-themes on here about particular mechanical maladies I've grappled with. Hopefully-useful posts in their own right, which themselves acknowledge the valuable & enduring archive of collective wisdom this site/forum has represented for LMC.

As compared with that ephemeral 'ticker-tape' of passing knowledge so briefly glimpsed on equivalent, enthusiast 'F...Book' pages, before it's lost & gone forever when the next post arrives....

BUT... if this site is so unwieldy that it will only obstruct ("ERROR 403.... ERROR 403!" barks the resident Dalek) these attempts of mine, then - in my view - it must surely be doomed? Why, I've been so baulked by it over this weekend, that I've even contemplated leaving the club!! (After all this trouble, what's left as the point?)

I currently have several crates of assorted Fulvia spares; not to mention a lovely steering wheel & a toolbox full of specialist Fulvia/Flavia tools to sell; and our club membership seems the obvious first audience to offer it all before. Yet, absent a cooperative website, or the ability easily to post photos of them up there in particular, then I can't & won't!

So it's all going eBay-bound shortly, instead; which in my view is a great pity as our membership becomes obliged to compete at auction there with the uncouth - with non-LMC riff-raff. And if others on here encounter the same problem - which they obviously do - then this LMC website will itself wither & die, as it ceases to be an otherwise obvious first port-of-call for the rarer Lancia spares.

Yours, more in sorrow than in anger....

Can you email pictures to someone else to see if they can put them up on the forum on this thread on your behalf? If you want to try sending me one to guymayers@blueyonder.co.uk I'd be only too happy to see if I can post them for you.

Thanks very much, Guy and Simon, for both your kind offers of practical help & also your advice.

I appreciate that picture-size can be an issue in these situations; and that modern cameras produce high quality images sometimes indigestible for older-style servers or more basic websites. And I understand how processes of de-sizing can sometimes help.

So you've encouraged me not to give up yet; and am currently concentrating on weeding my MacBook to make sure first that there's adequate operating capacity left available at this end, and that's not contributing to the problem.

Then I'll be back!

For this Forum, I always export my pictures from my phone to my desktop, save & name them and then export them to the Forum having shrunk their size to a normal 'email' size. That has always worked for me.
