Fulvia Cam Cover crackle black refinish

 During first lockdown I had a cam cover vapour blasted.
Can anyone recommend someone to redo the crackle black finish for me please.

Hi Brian - it's really easy to do yourself. Frosts sell the paint and one tin will do. It takes a while for the paint to cure and wrinkle but satisfying to watch

Then bake it in the oven to finish off the process - but honestly it is very straight forward

Ovens and paint remind me of a (humourous in hindsight) 'waxoyl' incident in the kitchen. Not sure if the maker of this box had a similar experience? (Carbuilder catalogue)

Like the cardboard box "oven". I'll be having a go at doing my cam covers when the weather improves. Happy to post before / after pics.
There are also plenty of Youtube videos showing the process and most seem to use heat guns to encourage the forming of the crackle finish.

Never used an oven, but done loads with a heat gun. It needs to be gentle heat as all you're trying to do is create the start of a skin to the surface and back off before it skins and dries out too much. And hair dryer works equally well as it's only gentle heat that's needed. Probably easier to achieve the differential between the bottom and the surface of the paint this way than in an oven.

I did mine last year and found the best even finish was achieved in the oven. The preparation and application of the coats really important. The more coats the better for good crinkle finishing.
