My S3 1.3 Coupe engine runs very well, but judging from the plugs (NGK BP7ES) I think it may be running a little rich. Is there a way of adjusting the fuel/air ratio or is it a case of getting smaller jets? Before anyone asks, the air filter is good!

I use 99 octane zero ethanol with Castrol Valvemaster

If smaller jets are the way forward, does anyone have a recommendation please.

No to smaller jets!! (Unless they are not standard in the first place). The best way to get a better feel for correct running is to go for a fast run and stop the and pull the plugs. NGK BP7ES are good for Fulvia. Most Fulvias show a sooty plug when idling for a while.

They're NGK BP7ES - pretty new.

Yes, I've certainly found that they carbon up bit if it's idling and in the winter it doesn't get the chance for a bit of a blast. Getting the engine to normal temperature in the garage as I do a few times over the winter isn't going to do it.  I'll do as you say when there's a nice day.

During the winter when just doing local trips I use BP6ES plugs which are more resistant to fouling, in the summer for motorway use BP7ES are ok.
