Sadly, for various reasons, I now need to find a new home for my Delta Platino 1.9 Multijet TwinTurbo. I am selling the car for spares or repair.

This is a genuine Lancia badged car and was imported by me in 2009 having bought it new from Auto Halan in Amsterdam.

Since 2009, I have covered just over 131000 miles in it.

Shortly after I registered it in the UK,  it was displayed at the classic motor show at the NEC as part of the Lancia Motor Club display celebrating 30 years of the Delta. It was then used in the Top Gear studio when they did an episode featuring Lancia. It has also been featured in Auto Italia magazine.

The car is in pretty good condition for its age but it now needs work which I have neither the time nor the funds to do.

I took it off the road in October 2020 as it needed the rear callipers sorting as well as a new exhaust for its MOT. However I have not managed to do any of the jobs due to lack of time and also having lost a couple of months last year due to illness.

Since then, it has just stood on the driveway. As the battery is now flat, I haven’t been able to start it for a while, but having used a slightly underpowered battery and jump leads, the engine did turn over today. I will hopefully get a new battery and confirm the car will start in the next week or two. Also, due to standing, the brakes have probably all seized up.

As with most Deltas, it has a faulty alarm (due to moisture ingress caused by its position in the car) as well as the air vent actuator problem. Also, when starting from cold, it brings up an oil pressure fault. It clears with a few revs and isn’t a problem when the engine is warm. I tried a new oil pressure switch but this made no difference.

Other issues are that the fuel flap lock no longer works, so the flap is permanently unlocked. There is evidence of corrosion starting under the filler flap due to a poor repair done by the bodyshop I used after a wagon scraped down the rear corner of the car (the back door handle still shows some of the scars). There is a bit of bubbling on the black trim by the rear LHS door window. As with most cars of its age and mileage, there are various stone chips and a few small dents.

Whilst I would love to see this car back on the road, I appreciate that it is most likely going to be stripped for spares, I mean where else are you going to get all the Lancia parts including the correctly etched glass, Lancia headrests and the holy grail which is the Lancia central display?!

The car is located in West Cumbria (near to the Sellafield site) and will need to be taken away on a trailer or car transporter having been stood for so long.

£1000 no offers.

Please do not ask me for specific parts off the car as I not going to strip it down. The car must be taken complete.

I need the car to go by the end of March. If there is no interest before then, it will sadly go to my local metal recycling centre where it will be crushed.

For more information please email me at Burghley.electrical@yahoo.com

I will try and post a few photos when I can make them small enough to put on the forum.

I have finally managed to reduce the size of my photos to make them an acceptable size for the forum.
