One of the Club members recently asked me how I fitted a new brass union nut to the fuel filler pipe on a Fulvia 2/3. He suggested that I post my answer on the forum as it may help others who are scratching their heads as to how to do it. If a plastic one is present it often breaks if you try to to undo it, but nice new shiny brass ones are available.

I’m afraid that the only way to do it is to de-solder the part that the filler cap is secured to. It's an easy enouigh job with a blowtorch and you shouldn't have to add much (if any) solder when you re-attach it.

Just be careful that you orientate the filler attachment as it was before for aesthetic reasons and be sure to fit a new  gasket when you connect the pipe to the fuel tank.
