Having bought repair kits for my carburettors and started taking them apart last night I decided that it would be helpful to have a guide to what is what inside them, partly so I can identify specifically where the kit parts go but also to make sure I do them correctly. I can't find anything online so wondered if anyone can recommend anything. I've seen the Haynes manual for carburettors that includes Solex but don't know how details it is for the ones on the Fulvia - I can find instructions for rebuilding the VW Beetle versions but they look quite different. I've done plenty of SU carburettors in the past but they are relatively simple!!

Do you have the parts book or workshop manual (S1 fat book)? This is the only info on standard 35mm I have seen available and it really just a parts diagram. If you have the anti pollution carbs I can help with additional info but it would be misleading to use on std PHH carbs.

Take them apart with lots of photos stage by stage. It is virtually impossible to rebuild them incorrectly if you use a step by step dismantle and use containers for the parts.

I do have a copy of the S1 manual, it was latish last night when I finished taking the carbs off and having a look at them so only had a quick look in the book and didn't see that section. I'll have a proper look tonight, thanks.

Just to say that I've cleaned all the jets, replaced the gaskets and diaphragm and the car fired up and ran more smoothly that it did last time I tried. A lot of adjustment to do I suspect but pleased with the progress so far.

Always better if you popped the carbs stripped into an ultrasonic cleaning bath. If considering buying one go for at least the 10l capacity as it will do the carb body completely immersed. The 5l is too small.

I have a small ultrasonic cleaner so cleaned all the parts I could fit in it, the brass parts particularly which really got them clean. Blasted everything else with carburettor cleaner whilst it was in pieces. At least it runs now so I can start the adjustments from a working situation!

I have a copy of a solex 35 manual that I obtained years ago from Omicron, that might be worth looking at.
