1970 Flavia Coupe 2000 Heater control Vlave
« on: 17 November, 2019, 10:08:36 PM »
Had the car out this morning and couldn’t get any heat into the cabin.  Removed the heater control valve/switch on top of heater matrix and it was completely blocked with gunk.  I've removed it, cleaned it and put it back but as suspected the rubber inside the unit is shot and is leaking.  Does anyone know if these units are available?

Regards

Mark

While you are at it you may find the heater matrix is blocked. Ideal time to give it a good flush out with a hose ....

I believe Omicron sell the rubber diaphragm. This is much cheaper than a replacement valve (available it Italy).
Its not the winning but taking part! or is it taking apart?

Thanks guys. Spoke with the guys in Norfolk and they do have a diaphram  - its from a Fulvia mk1 apparently, so hopefully this will do the trick.

I wanted the heater to work in the new Fulvia GT and have just done the job

The problem was the original diaphragm had swelled and could not be unseated - see photo. Quick and simple job if it all comes apart

ps can you post the Omicron price for the diaphragm please ? (I only had one in stock so will need to replace it)

Final picture shows the rebuilt unit next to a plastic replacement unit, but the pipes are a slightly bigger diametre so would need a slight mod

The cost for the diaphram was £21 +postage - its a bit steep but what is the alternative?
