Dear All

My first post on this forum. I would be very grateful if someone could direct me to the appropriate source (or sources!) for a new windscreen for my car. I have tried Omicron but they are not responding to email or voicemails. I have sent a number of emails out to various providers, some of who have replied but I'm not sure if I'd actually be getting the right part (given the rarity) if I ordered. If there are any tried and tested suppliers the forum is aware of, the information would be gratefully received.

Thank you.

Try Pilkington's direct, they have a dedicated dept for remade screens. They should be able to tell you if they have been remade, and by whom.
In some cases they have the patterns and will make one, but more often than not (in my experience) they have been commissioned by someone else who has exclusivity to the pattern

I don't know about other glass manufacturers

As a final suggestion, Pilk's will make them one-off, but at a cost !

Thank you very much. They are one of the companies I have emailed. Fingers crossed that they can help. I have no idea at all what this should cost though? Any thoughts?

Is the screen covered by the insurance policy?

Not sure. I can certainly check. The first issue is finding if it can be replaced!

Re cost, the last time that I had a quote, the tooling costs came to about £2200 plus vat and then the cost of the screen ..... so count on at least £2500 plus vat

I am sure that Pilkington already have the moulds for Zagato and Touring flaminia with Omicron paying for tooling years ago. As when i enquired many years ago for agreed  windscreen insurance they said they could provide one for a GT but had to go through Omicron.

Thanks Jay. The problem is that Omicron are not responding. I'll have to try again I suspect, or just make do with the cracked one I have until they respond or someone else can assist

Phone them during office hours, certain people who work there can be a bit poor at getting back, ask to speak to Elizabeth or Martin

FYI for the forum. I have ordered it through Omicron. I will feed back the end result. Many thanks.
