Dave,

That looks to be coming along beautifully, can’t wait to see photos of the finished car.

Currently working on the electrical system, to make the car fit for modern traffic, with a cigarette lighter for the sat nav, hazard warning lights, relays for an electric fan and an electric washer pump for the windscreen. A friend is doing the wiring for me as it isn't my strong point. Today, when sorting out the cigarette lighter, I was surprised to be told that I already have one. He took out the ash tray, and when following the wire through, found that one of the handles pulls sideways to reveal a cigarette lighter in the end. It is evident that he and I are not alone in not knowing about this find, as the ash tray was full from the previous owner, not only of cigarette butts, but matches as well. I have had another Flavia on the road for 16 years, and never realised that this neat piece of design exists. It's no good for sat nav, as the diameter of the actual lighter is around that of a cigarette, but it gives us a point from which to set in a period cigarette lighter of the size needed. Pictures attached.

When it works it has a tendancy to shoot the red hot lighter bit across the driver and into his/her lap…. Hence the matches!
