Its one they are sitting "in" rather than "on".  There's a phrase I've heard for 1950s Austin 7 based specials with that sort of look that the driver sits "like a mop in a bucket".  There's any number like that that look great until someone sits on it.

There's every chance its not Lancia based at all.  There's one Appia based that was built "recently" (could be 40 years ago, but not "in period") which I think is in Holland.  From memory sort of a Lotus 7 look to it.  Alas can't find a link to it.
