The membership secretary has just sent me a list of Yorkshire members. It runs to 42 (and there are a few names that I know that are missing), so almost 5% of the club. Yet, we have no local meeting or events.

If any of you have a good idea for a venue that would be reasonaby central for us all, or ideas for an event then  please post them on here to start with. Perhaps a spring 2019 launch for a regular local gathering?

Just received our new list for the Herts and Beds Section.
We do hold a meeting on the first Tuesday of every month in Hitchin, but it's a very good month if we manage more than 4 of us.
I Had the old list from the Membership secretary about a year ago, I either phoned or contacted every person listed, but the net result was one couple, so that was an improvement, but we haven't seen them again for sometime.

One of our problems is that between the two counties we cover a huge area north to south as well as east to west, and it's near impossible to find a venue that suits.
We never have anyone from North Beds, I live South of Bedford, and I'm the only one that far north, with over half the County Still missing.
One previous venue resulted in members from Cambridgeshire and still no one from North beds.
Some of our area members find it easier to attend the Essex meeting as its nearer, or at least more accessible from the Buckinghamshire side of our area.
A number of new members connected with motoring publications live right on the Bucks side, so I think it's unlikely they'll join us for an evening.
I don't wish to sound all gloom and doom as those of us who do turn up have a good evening, and no, we don't just talk about Lancia's.
Last month we cancelled our meeting as it was immediately after the AGM, instead some of us took ourselves off to Matching Green where we were warmly welcomed by the Essex group.
However a 90 mile round trip including going home in the dark, wasn't the best of trips, and I will do it again, but not frequently!
But as Neill points out, where are you all?
Please support, or start your own local meeting.
Brian

First meeting held on Saturday at The Buckles Inn near York. Integrale, Fulvia Coupe, Beta Coupe and Delta GTie in attendance.

We are having an early Christmas meet next on 1st December, venue tbc but with a lunch. Hope to see some more Yorkshire members...

Following on from Brian's comments another problem is when to hold get togethers. Some people find a weekend lunchtime convenient and others prefer a weekday evening. You can never please everyone and if you try then you will never get anything done. However if you can get 4 or 5 people to make a regular commitment then there will be some people to talk to even when a regular or two are on holiday.
