Chaps,

As some of you may know, I am now getting on a bit and I am finding the steering on my 815 Coupe a bit of a work-out when parking.

Have any of you any experience of the electric power steering systems that are now becoming available, as I am considering fitting such a system to my car, or if not selling it and getting a 2000 which will of course already have PAS.

Thanks,

Bob

Bob,
I know the feeling well!
Have a word with Omicron as I'm pretty sure they have fitted electric power steering to an Aurelia or a Flaminia.

Chaps,

Thanks for your replies and suggestions, I will give Omicron a call to start with and find out if its possible, and if so, how much it costs.
I will post my findings here for future use by others.

Chaps,

I contacted Andrew at Omicron about the conversion, but unfortunately it is going to be too expensive for me, but thought I would let you all know the cost just in case its of any use.

Due to the alloy shroud around the steering column between the wheel and the bulkhead it makes it quite difficult to mount the motor. The cost to do the work is £2500 plus the additional costs to remove the steering column and re-fitting and wiring in costs.

I guess I will either buy a big box of steroids and go to the gym (Unlikely at my age) or think about getting an 820 Coupe which will of course have PAS.

Just noting Lancia lulu's reply Bob, did you try it, may well make enough of a difference to make the heavy steering liveable with!?

Tim,

Which Michelins do you suggest and in what size, because I am obviously not going down the electric PAS route ?
