For anyone visiting France there will be a new speed limit from July 1st. All roads that were previously 90kph will now be 80kph. Don't be fooled by remaining 90kph road signs. They haven't changed them all yet but the cameras would have been recalibrated and you will still be fined. On a 2 Lane road the sign with the diagonal black stripe will also mean 80kph.

Cheers for heads up Stanley, not sure if this link is as current as 1st of Julys latest changes but it gives you a good idea of how French attitudes extend to use of a car in their country.
