In my Fulvia handbook it quotes the sump etc capacity as 4.3L. There is no addendum/changes in the rear of said handbook re capacities for the 1600HF, so I assumed it was the same.
Having just changed oil and filter, I carefully added a bit under 5L to get things going, still not at the MIN level on the dipstick. Added a bit more, same result, put in the remainder of can, just on MIN, so added a bit more from a new can.
So you can see the reason for my question, ie is the 1600HF capacity more than 5L??
Any advice welcomed....

Engine oil capacity for 1.6 S2 is 4.75 litres. The S1 1.6 oil capacity is 5.80 litres.

Do you have an oil cooler fitted ? That would account for the difference, I think . An s2 hf doesn’t have one fitted as standard- does a Fanaloni?

Might be a stupid suggestion but is the dipstick the correct length? I don't have 1600 so can't provide a measurement.

good thought about an oil cooler, but not one fitted....also a good question about the correct dip stick, but will probably never know the answer to that one! all I can say is it looks correct, but who knows.
its one of those really simple things, ie an oil change, that shouldn't cause any particular issues, but there you go....

It will not make much difference but some alternative oil filters are larger than the oem. It may be that a previous owner obtained and fitted a Fanalone sump for extra capacity. I hope he will have fitted the longer oil pick up as well (if that was the case)!!

My series 2 1600 Sport, which has the same engine I believe, dipstick measures 233mm from the shoulder of the black plastic plug to the full mark.

thanks for the measurement....so the mystery deepens as mine from the shoulder to max is 245mm, which logic tells me means my oil level should be up to max with less oil in the sump?!
Could it be a Fanalone sump as suggested, again no idea and is there any easy way to tell?
In the meantime the concern is how much oil to actually put in, and to where on the dipstick, as am already a bit over 5l

Works S1 sump is over 6 litres. Best way to measure is gradually add oil and mark dip stick. Works sump much wider than normal one.
