This Spring I intend to replace the Servo unit on my Flavia with a modern dual circuit remote servo. I have already bought the servo unit, but space is at a bit of a premium so I am looking for a double banjo coupling to keep the overall length of the "plumbing" as short as possible, rather than adding extra length by using using 2 single banjo couplings in tandem.

MY problem is that the only double banjo fitments that I can find are for connecting brake hoses and not for connecting copper brake pipes with 3/8 UNF flare nuts.

Has anyone got any suggestions for a supplier of said part?

Not sure why everyone is binning a perfectly good original equipment  servo when these can be overhauled at a modest cost?

I took the plunge on my inezeione Flavia as there just did not seem enough room to fit the Spanish kit car servo (transverse or longitudinal).

I did recondition my Servo about 4-5 years ago with new rubber seals.

Last year I started to notice the fluid level dropping a little after I had driven the car for 30 mins or so. The fluid loss was not drastic and didn't happen unless the car had been in use. There was no fluid leak from anywhere else in the system so I attributed the drop in fluid to some DoT 4 escaping past the rubber seals into the Servo Vacuum chamber and then being burnt off in the exhaust.

A new kit of seals costs about a third as much as a new brake servo from Spain. Since it seems I'd be going through new seals every 4 years a whole new brake servo with a reputation for reliability seemed a much sounder investment.

I know of a few Flavia owners who have made the mod and all say it is very reliable and effective.

For me simple fear.  I know Colin Marr thinks them straight forward to revive as well as yourself, and I know Omicron pride themselves on having tools and test rigs and all the knowledge and experience to do it, but its the one item that gets spoken of round the camp fire as producing odd symptoms at inopportune moments.  My project is what the polite might call "at an early stage" and my resolve was and remains not to stockpile parts I might never need, but when that item became available again I bought one.  Lots have and nobody regrets.  Some have parts on the shelf to reverse the mod and for now I'm hanging onto the original parts.  Its a well trodden path.

Aurelia wiper boxes - there's a reason the competition cars had a third wiper mounted above the screen.  I put in a lucas system.  The clutch is prone to oil via a felt "oil weep regulator", a sealed bearing and a bung makes that problem go away. 

Where will I draw the line with the Flavia?  I've got PLENTY of time to ponder that.  It will probably get an electric fan and perhaps also an oil cooler delete. There's likely to be extra metal in the sills and maybe also the pillars.  It has a rear wiper and heated rear screen I'd like to keep.  Unlike the Aurelia I don't think it needs high level brake and indicator lights but it might get door mirrors, for all the original wing mirrors look so lovely.  It will absolutely have a mirror each side.  The electric aerial is a period piece now that makes me smile.  Perhaps later Fulvia seats with headrests for peace of mind. 

I can't leave alone...maybe in time (as Chris Gawn) I'll come back to the true path...

Actually quite a few servo systems fitted in Lancias (like Fulvia) are prone to misbehaving if not set up correctly. I was lucky  I suppose with my Flavia as I measured the old push rod length  before changing all the innards and diaphragms. All the parts including new push rod (slightly corroded), piston (damaged in removal), and diaphragms from our well known Uk Lancia specialists came to less than 250 delivered..... Its been running for a year now and completed about 2000 miles, but I will of course monitor the brake fluid and if it needs new seals then I will consider re sleaving it at Past Parts (but the bores were spotless when I rebuilt it).

For general information, straight double entry banjos available from NTG Motor Services, Ipswich. Tel. 01473 406031.  Part No. K006A  3/16 UNF thread  36.48 inc vat + p&p 6.00 each.  Not cheap but if not easily obtainable.....
I have no connection to them. They are MG specialists and the banjos were fitted to MGA`s, TC`s etc.
