John Cundy

I received the sad news from Neil Cundy that his father John had passed away late October after suffering a stroke in September. John had been battling with Parkinsons for a few years but still was fettling his B20 and restoring a 1600HF.
Neil has asked me to put a short announcement on the forum and he has written a piece for VL.
John's funeral is Monday 21st November at Markeaton Crematorium, Derby at 12:30, and anyone who knew John is invited.
John was a professional engineer and an expert in Lancia design. He wrote some technical articles for VL over the years. He will be missed.

John was a good friend, and a very helpful in educating me not only on engineering, but also how Lancia solved problems. He was a valuable colleague for more than 10 years. His insights were always to the mark, looking at first principles, and finding the most direct answers. His understanding of the intricacies of machining and casting were light years ahead of most, and his knowledge profound.
A lovely man, and will be sorely missed. Best to his family. RIP.

How very sad. John was a very knowledgeable engineer who had the talent and patience to clearly explain certain intricate techniques to less able engineers such as myself. He will be a great loss to the Aurelia world but the quality of his work and his respect for Lancia's engineering and design will live on in his superbly restored ex Mike Hawthorn B20.

Very sad to hear about John I thought his restoration of Mike Hawthorn's B20 was superb.
the only thing that was wrong it did not have the Abarth exhaust system with the six pipes out the back.
Which when pointed out to him he replied he did not like noisy cars.
