Title: 6000 hour restoration on a Flamina Z
Post by: DavidLaver on 09 August, 2017, 08:50:28 AM

Other than the "6000 hours" (lets say 30 chargeable hours a week, that's four years full time effort) the interior colours made me wonder "did they really have white mats when new"?

Can't speak to the rest of it, but yes to the light grey mats.

I came by an original used set of beige rubber mats in vgc for a B20 a few years ago which I subsequently gave foc to be fitted to a black car some years ago. They came from someone's loft in Camden Town I recall and the vendor also had a Weber 40DCL in the loft but he couldn't find it!!!!!

The listing has disappeared, but here is another. Perhaps a record asking price? http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/lancia/flaminia/215303

'testa rossa's' are double price......

I do not understand how these guys stay in business, and can only assume that either their customers are a kind of people to whom money really doesn't matter, or the selling price is in reality much lower then the asking price.
However this particular guy has been in the business for quite a while.  From a few cases I know his mark up is at least 100%, usually more, so if you can make 300.000 on one deal it's easy....

But it's the buyer who sets the final price, so as long as they can find people stupid enough to pay totally ridicoulous prices it will just continue.
