Title: Rear spring(s) for Fulvia coupe 1st series
Post by: Deuce2+2coupe on 11 July, 2017, 11:26:49 PM
Hi, Im seeking a pair of complete re-usable rear springs from a Series 1 Fulvia, to help keep my standard spec. S.1 1.3 Rallye on the road, or alternatively just one complete (however tired) one to serve as a template for getting a new pair made up.
I'm based in the north midlands, happy to pay a suitable sum for a suitable pair / template single, and within reason might travel afar to collect.  Also interested in acquiring spare rear spring shackles, fasteners, silent blocks etc.
Any prospective sellers are welcome to phone / leave a message for Steve on 01629 580972.

It may be cheaper to buy all from Cavalitto in Turin. He ships very quickly.

Thank you LL for your suggestion above, I may well do this.

However I've felt reluctant about 'buying new' having read of reproduction springs being much stronger / stiffer than originals, and noticed the following statement under a Buying Guide on Fulvia published in Classic Car Weekly of 16 Nov 2016:
"....watch for sagging rear leaf springs and corrosion around around the mounting points. Replacement items aren't always that great with specialists reckoning that refurbishing and re-tempering originals is best".

I am wary of fitting any replacements that could lessen comfort / increase 'VNH'; my motoring seems to often involve journeying with non-enthusiast passengers over variable condition rural A and B roads, rather than speeding along the autostrada!
