Title: removing the lock on the fuel filler flap ?
Post by: cyborg7 on 25 May, 2017, 08:17:08 PM
Hi, I need to remove this ready for respraying, but it seems to have a castillated ring nut. I'm guessing that this might be yet another Lancia special tool?  ::)  I don't have anything like a milling machine so am a bit limited. Is there anyway of getting hold of one of these or suggestions for making something to fit?
Thanks

I think I removed one with some long nosed pliers but a small c spanner would do the job too. The club does not have a special tool for this although some Fulvia restoring members might have made one.

try tapping it round with an aluminium drift.

Might circlip pliers do the trick?

Thanks all - brother-in-law managed to get it off with some waterpump pliers, but only after 2 days of soaking with plusgas releasing fluid. Didn't spot the circlip suggestion, but that might well have worked in hindsight to get in the notches. The respray that had been done previously before clearly hadn't managed to remove it, so really pleased that we succeeded.

For replacement how about taking a small file to a tubular spanner of the right size?
