Title: Marcello Minerbi
Post by: 038tipo on 30 January, 2017, 09:45:41 AM
Dear All.
It is with great regret that I have to report the death of our great friend Marcello Minerbi.
He suffered an incurable form of cancer with great dignity.
He was a great  friend to the club and he drove over 15 years from Italy to the AGM in his Aurelia, which is no mean feat.
He also organised trips to the North Cape and route 66 for the Lancia Club Italia, also not small trips..
One of the most respected motoring journalists in Italy spanning over 40 years working for Quattroruote and Ruote classiche, he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

How sad. He was a lovely guy, a huge Aurelia fan and a well respected journalist. Lovely to have met him a few times in the UK and Italy.

Very sad. A wonderful man.

We first met when he and others came from Italy to cross the US on Route 6 in their Lancias. We also spent a day at the Bonfanti show on Aurelias, and later at his house. A very good journalist, he was of assistance during work on the De Virgilio book, and helped with relationships in Italy. Sorry to lose him.

A gentile man in every respect and a true friend to LMC, and members who knew him. Also a great Lancista!

A remarkable achievement, and commitment to the club, to drive his Aurelia all the way from Italy so many times for our AGM weekend, almost certainly won't ever be equalled.

I wonder if the committee would consider awarding Marcello the trophy for furthest distance travelled one last time in recognition of this unique achievement and to mark the passing of this true gent.

Martin.

Marcello's family are attending the National Weekend in July as guests of the Club.

Sounds an ideal opportunity for the club to recognise Marcello's dedication as suggested by Martin.

Matters are in hand, but don't want to let cats out of bags etc.
