Title: Bristol Italian Automoto Festival
Post by: HPEHF on 09 November, 2016, 10:49:55 AM
The Bristol Show is being arranged again for the 22nd April as has been for the last 13 odd years in the central street.

Will post further details when known.

Ahh yes, thanks Simon.

Looking forward to this, having missed last year due to a holiday clash. Always a great day, even for the partners, with retail therapy within easy walking distance.

Added to my diary!

Me too. Really looking forward to it after missing last year. I'm hoping the weather will have improved by then also.

I've just received an official invitation, by email from Paul Hanmore. It talks of celebrating the Fulvia Sport's 50th and the LMC's 70th anniversaries respectively and asks me to state whether my Fulvia Zagato is going to be part of a club display. Can anybody tell me what the LMC's plans are for a club display (if we're having one) and who's organising it?
Many thanks,
Alan Parkes

Hi Alan
I hadn't heard about fulvia sport 50th but as for a club display, there is nothing specific other than we usually end up being parked in the same street ( and as a few LMC members do the marshalling then we sort ourselves out ). So your answer is 'not part of a club display'. I expect we'll see the plan soon and know where we're going to be.
Regards,
Steve

Thanks Steve, I believe it's all up there on the BIAMF website too. The question is for those of us who are going, is whether we should try to organise ourselves into a cohesive club unit and try to put on a bit of a show. Surely there must be some club banners and advertising material etc., that we can lay our hands on from somewhere? Any further thoughts? Ciao, Alan

I could pick up one of the club flags from Dave Melluish on my way down. They are the type that fit under your wheel. As Steve says though, it wasn't my impression that the organisers group marques of cars together?

Hi

The main problem with the Bristol Show is that you're parking in part of the old city : narrow streets and on the pavements. So unlike in a field there's no way to get an specific area - we park people as they arrive and generally the marques go into one of four streets. The only way to be parked together is to arrive together - even then it's not always possible and we have to make it up as we go ( I've been parking the cars up for a few years and it just kind of 'works' on the day ).

So, although they may be Lancias together then they may or may not be club members ( I have no idea really ). if you wish to bring flags or anything else then that's absolutely fine though - but you may be in the middle of a street and not on the end of one.

It's fun doing it though and although it can be quite difficult with the supercars due to the side, ground clearance and pedestrians and street furniture !

What looked like a grey day with a cold start ( be there for 6:45 if marshalling ! ) turned into the most glorious sunny day right in the centre of Bristol. Lancia Motor Club was celebrating the 70th anniversary of the club and was represented by a good variety of cars , nicely parked along Corn Street : Delta GT ie ( 2 ! ) , Delta integrale ( 3 ) , Delta 2 HPE ( 2 ) , Thema ( 2 ) , Montecarlo ( 2 ) , Gamma Berlina , Prisma, Aprilia, Stratos ( 4 ) , Fulvia ( 2 ) , Beta coupe and spyder.

I've put a couple of pictures up on the news page : http://www.lanciamc.co.uk/news.htm?pYear=2017 - that's Ian helping with a Monte and Ben handing out some panettone ( Aprilias are very helpful in the respect with the double doors :) )

Really enjoyable day out for the 'locals' and I hope the 'visitors' enjoyed themselves too !

I really enjoyed my first visit. There is a nice pic of the Beta leaving the event on the Club Facebook page.

It was good to be back in Bristol after a few years away although I must confess that I think that Small Street is the pick of the streets to be parked; certainly doesn't get as busy as Corn Street where we were this year.

Just sent him an email.  Sorry for the delay, I've not been around much over the last few weeks.
