I am very local to Chepstow, and would be interested in joining but not staying over in hotel, is there a non residential option or residential only? Thanks John

Nearly all the rooms at the hotel for this year's Sliding Pillar Rally have been booked, but there is still time to grab one of the last places if you are quick.

Please let me know as soon as possible if you wish to attend, as I have to give the hotel final numbers next week.

Arrived just under 50% safely home. B10 fine exc unable to engage reverse in drive and Augusta being relayed back with ?broken con rod 2 miles from Chepstow.
Event was excellent due to the Rudler's peerless organisation (as usual) and the weather being fantastic. Great to see some old mates and one or two new cars.
Roll on 12m until the Ardennes!!

Daughter's partner was driving at time as I was taking Joanna to Newport train station in B10. He was certainly more timorous than tempestuous on previous days so don't think it was over-rev'd/thrashed.
Taken sump plug out and torrent of water and some oil all over garage floor. N/S side plate has a small bulge at the lower front where it has been clouted from inside by some internal metal moving at speed! Metal bits are all over 80 yrs old so probably just a bit tired......
Next job is to get engine out and open it up.
Unless something embarrassing I will keep a log/blog/slog whatever.

Shame to hear the B10 is showing her years, but hopefully it will be fixable easily, has the engine ever been out or had much work done to it  previously?

Interested to see another berlina blog on the go.

B10 really has had little work done mechanically. The original white metal bearings were wrecked when I tried a B20 carb prior to Historic Alpine Rally in 1988. It was put on a rolling road and thrashed "till the downpipes glowed red" according to the character who did it! Replaced with shells otherwise engine unchanged. Gearbox rebuilt in early 1990s by Richard Thorne as 3rd refused to engage. Hope current problem is control linkage problem rather than in box. In process of refurbing a set of rear shockers otherwise pretty well original. Need to think about clutch as very prone to slip esp if driven by youngsters not used to such things!!!

Another terrific SPR, many thanks and congratulations to Ade, Sarah and the team. Great location, hotel and "the right crowd in the right cars" :)

Modestine behaved well apart from the occasional miss-fire and the rebuilt (for the umpteenth time) clutch was light, smooth and responsive. She has a slight oil leak but I console myself that it keeps the underneath lubricated and corrosion free! However, combined with the persistent rattle on tickover the engine is going to have to come out and be stripped for investigation soon.

In deference to Margaret's health problem instead of driving the 160 miles to Wales we purchased an impressive second hand Ifor Williams CT177G trailer to transport Modestine to just this side of the Severn Bridge. BMW X5 and trailer were left in a farm yard courtesy of the app "Just Park" leaving us to motor the seven miles over the bridge to the Chepstow rally base hotel. I can thoroughly recommend "Just Park," you simply enter your desired destination and up comes a number of people offering parking spaces at very reasonable cost.

A wedding, SPR, two school Proms for two grandchildren, and 6 weeks at our house in France again using the trailer adds up to a satisfying Summer's motoring with Modestine. :)

The last picture is of Martin Wilems fitting a new petrol pump to Paul Bishops Flavia Sport Zagato.

Robin.

A Flavia Sport does of course have a "sliding pillar" rear window actuation, as can be seen in the photo.
