Title: Lancia dealership Pebley Beach
Post by: Rob on 10 June, 2016, 01:49:04 PM
Hi,

I'm in the process of restoring my Delta HF turbo which was bought new from Pebley Beach in Swindon when it used to be a Lancia dealership. I had to replace the rear windscreen as the original was damaged which had the Pebley Beach sticker attached to. So I was wondering if anyone has an image of the sticker that Pebley Beach put on the rear windscreens of the cars that they sold? I contacted the dealership but unfortunately they had cleared out all their old stock years ago. I know it's a long shot but any information / images would be greatly appreciated.

Regards, Rob

Oh you two are sooo funny! As fellow enthusiasts you should be encouraging me with my lengthy restoration not taking the pee!  ::). See you at the next monthly meeting at The Bull. Cheers, Rob

I'm willing to make tea if that helps :)

But I did try and find some old pebley beach images on google but no luck. What you want is some period pictures which may have a rear window shot that contains one ... ?

Ask Ade Rudler, as he has known them for years.

I have looked back at my old photos (on the computer) to see if I have a photo of a Pebley Beach window sticker, but it was usually the first thing I would take out of any new car I bought from them. I might have some photos taken in their showroom, but at the moment they are stored at the back of a very large cupboard and I don't plan to spend the day necessary to find them just now. I will let you know if I do discover them.
Ade.

Hi Rob

What is your reg. no? I used to own a Martini HF Turbo (E97WHR) that also came from Pebley Beach. Sadly, long since scrapped by the next owner after me. I used to take it to Pebley Beach for servicing and a salesman informed me one day that my car was once the demonstrator and he used it to travel to work and back daily during that time. I may have some old photo's buried in the loft but lord only knows when I'll have time to look them out. I will try for the next Bristol meet.

Regards

Ian

P.S. Can we have some pics of your work in progress?

Thanks for your replies guys but I don't want you spending hours looking through your old photos as I'm sure you have far better ways of spending your free time  ;). I've had a look through the paperwork that I keep for the Delta & found some old Pebley Beach headed reciepts so I had a go at making my own (with the help of my daughter) which look pretty good. The reg of my Delta Ian is E44 FAP, I'll have a go at putting some photos on but be warned some of the images are NOT for the faint of heart!  :o. Cheers, Rob

Wow Rob,

Thanks for the pics, quite a project. Are you going to make your own repair panels or does someone remanufacture the common rusty bits?

Ian

Hi Ian,

It's been a bit of a mixture really. I've fabricated a lot of the repair sections as it's so hard or very expensive to get hold of body panels. I did buy a hand made repair section for the back edge of the roof panel as it is quite tricky to make & that cost £250! Also I've managed to cut sections from a scrap Delta which has saved me a lot of work. The last major bodywork job is fitting & welding the replacement roof panel to the shell which I'm in the process of doing at the moment.

Cheers, Rob

Sorry this is picture of a picture but you get the idea.

This was taken in Jan 1994 on a car for sale in Pebley Beach (18th Birthday treat - dealer took me out in an EVO1 K480RLO dealer demo car).

I have looked though the photos taken on that day and none of the cars had a window sticker (Brand new and second hand) however they do have the dealer details on number plate front and rear.

Just to clarify, there is the Lancia shield, PEBLEY BEACH WROUGHTON SWINDON 0793-82235 SHELL Symbol (Petrol company)

Hope it helps and if you want any more info I will try and help out.

Regards

Dermis

Thanks for the picture Dermis I appreciate you having a look through your photos. I think the one's that I've mocked up are probably similar to the original. Cheers, Rob
