Title: Ebay - Lambda in France anyone?
Post by: peteracs on 24 August, 2015, 02:17:30 PM
Hi All

Not strictly a private sale, so apologies, but thought it was unusual to see one on Ebay, so posted it. Seller obviously does not understand how to list 100% as there is a Buy it Now for the same as the opening bid on an auction, but I thought it was interesting and I assume a known car here?

I think it was recently imported from New Zealand, where it was on sale for about half that price. (I could be wrong!)

The car from New Zealand was not this one.  The New Zealand car was an 8th series and went to a real Lancia man in Holland (luckily)  I was a few hours late for that one sadly...it sold really quick.

The French one was listed on Leboncoin already for monts for 110.000 Euro, and the price recently dropped to 100.000 Euro.

It seems correctly priced in comparison to the ones on prewarcar, but having followed auction results the past years I still feel it's slightly overpriced, with comparable cars reaching 75.000-80.000 euro without meeting reserve prices.

I'm hoping to go to the Beaulieu Autojumble on the 6th September so I'll see if I can spot it.

A friend of mine has seen the car in France, near Tours, a few months ago.
Non running, lots of work required.
Status of the cylinderblock unknown - head should be lifted to make sure that it has not succumbed to internal corrosion.
In my opinion not worth the money asked, and a high risk of unexpected troubles for the purchaser.

The New Zealand 8th series was a much better buy, that explains why it did not stay on the market for long!

Indeed if it's a non runner then it is surely overpriced, as the cost to rebuild the engine can be horrendous.

Has anyone seen the car in Beaulieu or know whether it was sold?

The seller informs me the car has been sold, no further details known,

I guess/hope it will pop up in due time

I'ts in a Sussex workshop undergoing restoration.  It's been messed about with over the years and is now having the bodywork returned to original. It's a 3rd series and will be a lovely Lambda when it re-appears later this year.
