I guess this one would look neater if they'd extended the doors back. Its a strange hybrid between a woodie and a panel van. Anyone ever seen anything like it? It looks like there's a lock near the cab to hold a sliding door each side closed, and these would slide to the rear. A shame there's no photo with those open or to see what might have gone inside. Another weirdness is that the tailgate is high. Space for a spare wheel under the floor or a ledge down? The question for me is, how do you get into the back? It could almost have been a burger van, but Italy in the 30s, did they have burgers, let alone burger vans???? I appreciate this is probably nothing like the original build, but was it built as a commercial or is this a saloon modified to be a commercial and if so, when was this originally done?
Anyway, an interesting vehicle. I hope it goes to a good home and the new owner will keep us in the picture!! The high tailgate reminded me of the early Fulvia Sport with the spare wheel locker. I'd love for the sliding door to reveal racks for bread trays or something...anything PARTICULAR...peculiar... It also reminds me that others may in time be wondering what on earth I was thinking as I put a van/woodie/"thing" on the back of an Augusta - if I do...
