Title: Flamina Zagato - hatch to the boot?

This car was the headline on ClassicDriver today.  The one detail that jumped out was what looked like a hatch through to the boot.

What is the curved cover etc behind the seat? Part of the transaxle coming up through the floor?

Its the clutch housing at the front of the transaxle that creates the 'hump' in the carpet
