Title: Kent Tour
Post by: DavidLaver on 03 June, 2015, 10:10:38 AM
I'm booked on an greatly looking forward to this tour:

http://www.kentanniversarytour.co.uk/Event/

It's approximately 120 miles through Kent starting at Maidstone and finishing at Sandgate with at mid-point break at Eastwell Manor.  Its a tour and NOT a rally so the route book is just to make sure you don't get lost and very straight forward.

The Delta was a shocker - "gun to a knife fight".  Alas I didn't manage to track down the crew.

I was going to take the Dino but as you saw it first I suppose I could muddle through with SS Jaguar or the E Type at a push. Like the little Hurricane too, even has working flaps. Very suitable for flying over Kent. Nice mix, looks like a good day out.

A bit wet at times but no issue in the car - just feel for the marshals having to wrap up against it.

Great variety of cars, a different bunch of people from our usual crowd.  The 4.2 XJS driver has two Fulvias and is on the Norfolk/Suffolk Fulvia tour thingy in a couple of weeks - Hugh Thompson.

Its not supposed to be competitive, but we were very smug indeed at the coffee stop.  We set off 11th, only passed one car pulled to the side of the road looking puzzled, but arrived first and by some margin.  We've no idea what route everyone else took but it wasn't the one in the road book.  One error right at the end, we did an extra lap of a roundabout to sort it.  BBQ at the end at the SAGA HQ with views out to the sea.  Stopped at the new Battle of Britain memorial on the way home which I'd recommend to anyone.

I had to look a long way down the page for the new bit and "scramble experience" and they undersell it:
