Title: 1974 Flavia 2000HF. Pictures added.
Post by: mikegamble on 05 March, 2015, 07:46:28 PM
I'm at an awkward point with the car mainly due to the fact I'm struggling to find time to work on it and, I'm about to enter fatherhood in the next few months and realistically, I'm not likely to be having much time free in the next couple of years!

I can either accept I'm not going to get around to it for several years which I could do but it seems a shame to leave it when frustratingly, it's not that far from being MOT'd and on the road, although scruffy and still needing the bodywork doing, or maybe I need to consider selling it and letting someone finishing it off and the car can start being used again?

Furthermore, it appears to be the penultimate car to leave the factory after being researched by Barbara Longlands for the dating letter, with a build date of November 1973.

I took it for the MOT in October and it failed with 3 pages of failures which sounded initially fairly horrendous until reading it properly when I realised although I had 3 pages, most of the failures were of a similar nature. The brake calipers need overhauling, the flexi hoses need changing and the pads.

I have bought through the Flavia Consortium a full set of flexi hoses, front and rear pads and also front and read caliper seals which I just haven't got around to fitting/overhauling yet.

Prior to taking it for the MOT, my local garage spent quite a bit of time going over things and trying to get on top of the electrics and got most things sorted and working, with the exception of the dash electrics.

It does run - drive- stop- start but would obviously need trailering as its not drivable. The interior is very tidy for it's age and undamaged and the boot is fairly tatty but I have sourced a very good one to replace it with. As far as I am aware, there is nothing missing.

I can get pictures if anyone is interested and I'll list the MOT failures below.

It somehow owes me £5200 as it is so, if someone is interested, it's for sale. If not, I think it's a case of preparing her for some deep storage until I can get around to her again!

Also, the current mileage is 26303, it had a major service by Omicron in 2002 before being laid up due to non payment of bill. The mileage at this time was noted at 26300 and the bill was for £4385.33.

I've added a few pictures after a couple of similar requests.
I've got plenty more, just ask.

Who just finished restoring a red HF?  When I met him in Yalding he was desperate for another to restore.

Would that be the Red 2000HF restoration featured in Practical Classics? If so, it would Derek Creasy from Kent.
