In brief its lottery money to move the hanger off the circuit, restore it and show as an aircraft factory.

I saw this last night, excellent news.

David, from what you have said does this mean that the circuit will be reinstated? It would be so good if that is the intenet.

Restoration of the track would be impossible, WWII put pay to that with several sections on the track being removed to run roads in to the site to build aircraft, now houses, businesses are all in the way. It is shame this restoration plan was not started decades ago, however this is still good news it will restore part of the original circuit layout with the bumps which were there pre war, period films show cars on the banked circuit becoming airborne as the sped along.

I saw this last night, the artist seemed to have missed out the large Wellington hanger which I believe is listed. Unless they are planning to knock it down.

The part of the track that will be reinstated currently has "the Wellington hanger" on it.

Out the club house, turn left towards the banking and that is part of the original track.  From memory "The Finishing Straight".  In the picture the hanger is camouflaged in its intended position.

At the moment I think you can walk on original concrete down the side of the hanger.  The big "car park" behind the hanger is original track.  Last year at Auto Italia the Lancias were on that bit with the X19s.  The VSCC have some of their driving tests on it.

There's another bit of original track next to Mercedes Benz World which they use for kids to learn to drive on, next to the railway so I'll assume "The Railway Straight".  When there I was told they'd like to resurface but need to find a way to properly preserve the concrete below whatever they put over the top.

Couldn't get it to the photo...grrr...

Click on the little photo bottom left and all should become clear.

Concorde moves to make space for the new location of the hanger.  I understand the money also restores the hanger and I can imagine the easiest way to do that is to take it to bits first.

The "wouldn't it be nice if" for me would be a bridge to connect the Brooklands museum section to bit alongside Mercedes Benz World.

Scrolling down I noticed a LOT of track south of the A318, and an intriguing little track and bit of runway in "Brooklands Community Park"...

Isn't that part of the runway that Autoitalia used one year about 2000? before it was all sold off and Mercedes World built, I remember whacking up and Down in my Elefantino Rosso along with a lot of other Italian cars, as well as a Metro 6R4, or did that take place on what is now the Mercedes test track?

I think the Auto Italia do was indeed in the area now occupied by thhe Mercedes test track. The A318 area is the Tesco area. I wonder when that was sliced up. There is a surreal part of the old track in the housing estate, which I found quite amazing when I first came across it, quite a while back. One thing I haven't seen, is the inside of the old flying school building.
