I have a new red plastic trim/strip that goes around the grille.

For the life of me I cannot see how to remove the grille to fit it.

Any known solutions gratefully received

Hi Roger

From memory I believe the screwheads are hidden under a rubber strip (that acts as a cushion for the leading edge of the bonnet) along the top edge, if you want to remove the entire grille.
If you can find the wheeler dealers integrale episode (series 3, ep.10) on youtube or discovery channel website, they replace the front grille on their car, so all should be revealed.
Just tried to find it myself to no avail, but it was shown on Quest just yesterday (at 2.30pm) I see, if you have catch up tv.
Anyway, hope this info is of some help.

Thanks very much.  I got it up on u tube.  Unscewed 3 screws inside bonnet and whilst the grille is now loose it still wont come out, unlike the one on u tube which just slots out easy as you like! 

I shall find a way!

Roger you may find there's a couple of hidden screws that go in through the front of the grille, Dedra & Thema both had these, usually with a black finish so that they are hard to spot!

Its a long shot - but if the grill is plastic and the screws metal one of those "don't drill into a pipe or a wire" metal detectors might be a help.

looking at a Prisma grille, which might be similar, there are screws along the top but towards the bottom at the outer edges there are two arms that extend in towards the radiator and are a push fit into lugs in the front cross panel. They should just pull out but of course with age everything goes hard and they feel like they are solidly attached. This might possibly help.

Having recently taken a Delta grill off a car that had never seen salt (south of France) I was a bit mystified to find my prisma grill ( UK car) stuck on. I had forgotten that there are two "pegs" on the grill (that Frank has identified) that slot into metal spring retaining clips. A squirt of WD40 and it popped out.....

I posted the page from eper showing the grille, it's fixings and the pins and sockets but it seems to have disappeared.

Hi All.  I have now done it.  You have to pull it out from the front as Frank said.  And WD40 helped.  Looks very smart now.  Not saying how much the piece of trim cost!!

I guess you don't want to risk breaking any plastic lugs by using too much force!

I once owned an F Reg Delta Turbo which was great fun. Awesome to drive but the exterior door handles would become brittle and snap off and the CV joints didn't seem to last very long.
Sadly, its next owner took it to a vehicle recycling plant when he had finished with it, so now it's probably reincarnated as plant pots and washing machines!
