Title: LMC GOODWOOD Track Day April 18 2015
Post by: lancialulu on 11 December, 2014, 07:01:16 PM
Date for diaries - Saturday April 18th 2015

Club Track day at Goodwood.

This long standing event needs your support. It is a great opportunity to drive your Lancia round this historic and evocative circuit. Non Lancias are also welcome, and non club members too (day membership available on the day). It is also a key event in the club's social calender so even if you are not going to drive the track, come down and bring a picnic.

Both full and half track days are available. Try a half day if you haven't done this event before.

Entry form is appended to this post.

Its not too late to put on your Xmas list. What a red letter day you will have!!

Brian Mills is the contact (see bottom of entry form) if you have any queries.

Tim

Tim

Is trackday insurance available on the day for those whose policies exclude track days?

I dont think so. The Club has public liability, but are you sure your insurance co would not add it on?

I will check with the insurers.

Bear in mind this is not like a normal trackday. Much less cars 8 at LMC v c20 generally. There is a drilled etiquette for overtaking, and the marshals take poor driving very seriously. So really down to the pilot for any embarrasment. If you have not been before the senior instructor takes you out in the course car to familiarise, and is on hand to sit with you round the track if you want for guidance and tips....

Some classic insurers do cover track days but you do have to tell them beforehand and they may ask details like who is the organiser etc. and the only downside is that they up the excess while you are on the track, but if they include it for free, that's not a problem.

Hi all,

Just to let you know that entries are coming in, however club members are in danger of being in a minority at this rate! The event is great value and it's at it's best with Lancia owners out there who fully understand the importance of this event, so come on or this will not be a true LMC event for much longer.

Aprilia or Thesis, get them out there! Send me your entries.

Regards
Brian

To those that are coming to watch please throw a fiver in the bucket for your days entertainment , it will help support this event in future years.

Enjoy Lancia

Monte off SORN and ready to go.

Does anyone know if the flying club will be open for lunch or will it just be the dining delights of the chuck wagon ?

Martin.

Ah yes Tim, good for alfresco dining but for those of us who don't eat meat, if the flying club isn't open, we'll have to make other arrangements.

I wonder if Fortnum & Mason will deliver a picnic hamper ............

Well Martin you could ask for a cheese burger but go easy on the burger.......anyway weather predictions seem to be cooling down by the weekend from the current summery offering??

Brian and Tim,
Thank you, yes, I know it is generally open, but a few years ago we were caught out as it was closed for a private function and I spent over an hour driving around trying to find a sandwich whilst you lot had your BSE on toast.
I asked the question here for general information to all.

However, Mr Chairman has also confirmed that it's open so enough about the luncheon facilities.

See you on Sat.

The flying club buildings (Drivers Club at the Revival) at Goodwood are currently being completely redeveloped to a fairly radical new design with viewing from the roof, lots of glass etc.

Hang on Chris. So does that mean it is open for lunch or it is being redeveloped and presumably not open for lunch?

I cant tell you but at the 73rd Members Meeting in March it looked like a building site. There is a large article on its redevelopment in the new Goodwood magazine for GRRC Members which has just arrived which is why I mentioned it. The new building is an exciting design reminiscent of 50's and 60's 'glass buildings' design.
The old control tower on the left as you enter the circuit is usually open for the Track day isn't it? And there is usually a food van.
Sadly I cant attend as we have visitors but with the forecast good weather and lots of Lancias I am sure it will be great day.
Chris

If somebody reads my post below it will say I have phoned the cafe (on behalf of Martin and the LMC) and they have said they are open....

Excellent day both on and off the track with a fantastic range of Lancias both driving flat out and posing in the paddock.

Thanks go to Brian and Linda Mills of organising and administrating on the day, to Jane Burrett who passed the hat round to visiting non driving participant and raised useful funds for the club, and Tony Harrison who spent a day taking photos (which if you want a DVD crammed with the day's action can be had for £15 including postage - profits going to LMC).

Roll on next year!

Enjoyable to a point but where were all the usual non participating Lancia and their owners?
Granted there were some there, but the numbers and faces seemed to be considerably down on previous years.

My eldest had a sixth form event that needed a parent, my youngest needed looking after...

However, as my "silver lining", while at Bluewater between visiting Build-a-Bear shop and Speedo, I got a call to say my starter motor (Strada Abarth) was ready.  As such I would like to recommend "Bexley Starters" who quoted within an hour of the unit being dropped in and had it back to me not much more than 24hrs later, looking pristine, and with a lovely whiff of thinners to betray the fresh paint.

While doing my research this place in Brixton was recommended and they also do rewinds:

Track day a month earlier this year so sadly clashed with our annual Easter holiday in France. With you in spirit but very much missed my yearly adrenaline rush! ::)

Plan to be at Brooklands with the Fanalone.

Robin.

I did think of you all blasting round in the sun. Haute Marne is a long way to walk home though if I overdid it. As a consolation I'm looking forward to a hillclimb here in May.

It was a great day with hardly any interruption due to incidents but I did hear of a yellow Integrale being distracted by the Goodwood airfield bird scarer and deviated off track as it went off . Only took c 5 mins to recover as the car was not damaged and very efficient marshalling.

I was mightily impressed with the Toyo Proxes CF2 tyres I fitted to my ride of the day (a bog standard Prisma...).

Who's was the Fulvia Daytona? Glad the weather was nice.
It was a competizione owned by a guy from Singapore called Barnaby. He had a very nice Race prepared lotus elan 2+2 and bought a 1600HF on the day to add to his collection. Lucky guy.
