I needed an ECU last year for my Prisma and ebay came up trumps.  In fact this one is on there at the moment:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ECU-Lancia-Delta-Dedra-1-6-1986-92-IAW-02P-WH2P-01-/271314924714?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f2ba134aa

Good luck!  :)

Thanks Andy. I did see that one but was concerned that the rest of the number was wrong so unsure of the ramifications of pluging it in, then if the car still did not start, was it the ecu still at fault or something else, i would not know for sure as it could be due to the different part number ???. Did you use one with a differing number to your original unit? G

Hi Graham

The Ebay ad also says they repair them, so maybe worth a phone call to ask the question/advice?

Seems to me that even if you got one with all the right numberrs, unless it was new you could still have that situation, but you've got to start somewhere, if you want to be sure then try the people in the other link who say they can rebuild your own ECU, no doubt a more costly way to go but at least that way you'll get a guarantee that it's a good unit.

My memory is a bit hazy but I think both elements of the part number did match in my case.  My car was running, just not particularly well and often on three cylinders.  I do also remember thinking that I was taking a bit of a chance as there was no guarantee that an old ECU would work but I was reassured to some extent that the people (based in Spain http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/ab-ein-euro-shop-kleine-teile) selling it did specialise is this area and were selling a lot of ECUs.

Thanks for the input folks. Where we are now is the ECU specialists that I took it to cannot fully test it as they no longer have the old style test rig and connectors for these old ECU's  ??? what they did do was a physical/visual look at the internals, nothing obvious found no burnt tracks or components and tested the drivers which also were all good, but as they said this was not a statement that the ecu was working, so no better off there then! The FI specialist that has the car is going to power up the injectors individually  to check they are working, if so its definately the ECU (apparently). Will let you know. Cheers. G

The club special tools have a full set of the diagnostics that were left with Ian Lloyd when I took over the tools from him a couple of years ago, at the time he was still trying to sort out his Dedra, I don't know the present situation, but as Tim is the current keeper of the tools he will no doubt know.

If this is still a problem I have one from a Prisma 1.6 ie I broke a few years ago. It ran perfectly but there wasn't much holding the floor pan to the body. I have loads of other bits and could do with freeing up the space.
