When I bought in 1981 nobody was interested, even in Italy, so my (then) immaculate and very original car was only just over £1k.
It is the old chestnut of whether we should use replacement value for our antiques, ceramics and cars or some slightly gut feeling of value with a bit either added or subtracted. B10s will never ever approach B20 or B24 prices/values so I will continue to let my children drive it and enjoy it. ;) But seriously, £1K then is worth about £5/6K now.......am sure similar applies to the B20s...so the values have gone up quite a bit. For cars this means the policy must be an 'Agreed Value' policy whatever the age of the car so there is no argument about condition, mileage etc in the event of a claim.
To underinsure even with Agreed Value is very shortsighted because if there is a substantial claim, the insurers will always try to find ways to negotiate the claim down IMHO. Chris |
